Alpine has begun shipping new Halo remote movable screen head units. These are the 11-inch iLX-F511 and the 9-inch iLX-F509. They are capable of 96 kHz / 24 Bit audio playback and feature a high resolution WXGA (1280×720 pixels) display. The main unit is 1DIN in size and the screen locking mechanism allows you to mount it in a comfortable position for better access to the air conditioning systems and other dashboard controls.
The diskless units support wireless CarPlay and Android Auto, Bluetooth for hands-free and audio streaming, and have an HDMI input that can connect to a DVD player or smartphone and an HDMI output for an external monitor. There is also an AV input and two USB ports. Audio formats supported via USB are MP3/WMA/AAC/FLAC/APE, video formats H.264/MPEG-4/ AVC/MP4/MOV/FLV and viewing images in JPG/PNG/BMP. The American version has an external Sirius XM satellite tuner, and the rest have DAB+ digital radio. Of course, there is also an analog tuner.
There is a connection to the steering wheel control buttons, there are also inputs for two optional front and rear view cameras. The rear view camera includes a distance indicator when reversing. With the optional KCX-C2600B selector, additional cameras can be connected.
A six-channel sound processor with Media Xpander provides time correction, high-pass and low-pass filters, and two EQ options: 5-band graphic or 13-band parametric. The line output voltage is 4 V. The output power of the built-in amplifier is 16 W per channel, the peak power is 50 W per channel. To control the subwoofer you can use the optional controller RUX-H02, which is attached to the display.
